Former Democratic U.S. senator Mark Dayton achieved another political laurel on Monday (Jan. 3), becoming Minnesota's 40th governor. Dayton is the first Democrat in the Governor's Office in almost two decades. Along with Dayton, former state senator Yvonne Prettner Solon of Duluth also took an oath of office, becoming Dayton's lieutenant governor.
