Omid Djalili is a comedic powerhouse who has made a name for himself across the world with his cutting and incisive humor on everything from politics and race to getting older and dealing with traffic wardens.
But there’s a side to him that he takes seriously as not only an Iranian-Brit – but also as a member of the religious minority, the Baha’i who have faced continued persecution in Iran.
In a conversation that is both frank and hilarious, Djalili tells Riz Khan about his boundaries for what is funny and what is not, why he campaigns for the rights of the Iranian people, his faith and spirituality, and how working with composer Hans Zimmer and acting legend Oliver Reed, on the blockbuster movie Gladiator, left a mark on him - in more ways than one.
