The Mitsubishi Lancer is produced by the Japanese manufacturer Mitsubishi Motors since 1973.
This series of Lancer was introduced as the CG series in July 2002 with the 2.0-liter 4G94 engine.
Since 2007, the Lancer has regularly featured within the Top 10 and Top 20 vehicle sales charts.
Prior to the discontinuation of Lancer production in 2017, John Signoriello, CEO of Mitsubishi Motors Australia Ltd, decided to stockpile as many Lancers as possible, in order to sell them in succeeding years.
