Chitrakoot's wooden toys have a legacy that spans over 400 years, and the popularity of these toys transcends generations. However, the industry that once flourished with thousands of craftsmen engaged in making wooden toys is struggling to survive with barely 20-25 families practising the craft now.
The Uttar Pradesh government is making efforts to revive the dying art by enlisting wooden toys made here under the 'One District One Product' or ODOP scheme.
