Exploring the unexplored - Perfect, desert waves in Sumatra!

Our plan was to spend 2 weeks surfing epic waves in the Mentawais.
But the universe had different plans: 10 days without a big swell and 20 boats leaving Padang, sailing south to the Mentawais.

We had to chose between sailing south to the Mentwais to chase smaller, crowded waves, or explore the unexplored, venturing to the Telo Islands. We didn't know much about them, many Telo Island surf spots don't even have a consistent name, each boat and visitor gives it a different name.

What a surprise: 2 weeks surfing desert breaks, that would hold even when other spots were too small. And finally on the last day a swell arrived!

In the middle, right between the Mentawais (to the south) and Nias (to the north), we found perfect, uncrowded waves, often just us!!
