Around November of 2021, Russian main battle tanks began to show up with odd cage add-on structures attached to their turrets. They were very reminiscent of slat armor, and though ramshackle in their construction, appeared to be too complex for just an umbrella frame. Some sources have claimed that these "cope cages" are designed to stop top attack munitions, especially the FGM-148 Javelin and NLAW anti-tank missiles. Even if that is their true purpose, which is extremely doubtful, they don't seem to be working all that well.
