All cross border services, whether they be operated by SNCF or Renfe, can be booked through either companies site (ie you could book on the SNCF website and end up traveling on a Renfe train or vice-versa.) As a result of this collaboration, the cancellation wasn't a big issue as all passengers that were due to travel on the canceled Renfe train could travel on the later Renfe train with no extra costs incured.
After Perpignan, this train continued on to Paris Gare de Lyon via Lyon.
Renfe services on this route are operated by AVE high speed trains. All SNCF services are operated by Duplex or Euroduplex (both variety of TGV) trains.
TGV stands for Train à Grande Vitesse or to anglicize that High Speed Train.
