Zac's Home-made Italian Sausage and Beef Lasagna:
INGREDIENTS: 0:40
1 Pound Italian Sausage (mild)
1 Pound Lean Beef
1/2 Cup diced onion
2 cloves of garlic
28 ounce of crushed tomatoes
2 - 6.5 ounce tomato sauce cans
2 - 6 ounce tomato paste cans
2 tablespoons of sugar
4 tablespoons of parsley
1.5 teaspoons of basil
1.5 teaspoons of salt
1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon of fennel seeds
1 Box of "cooked Lasagna" noodles
16 ounce ricotta cheese
1 egg
1 pound mozzarella cheese
1 cup parmesan cheese
INSTRUCTIONS:
3:44 In a pan on the stove top, Saute the minced onion and garlic until golden brown. 6:53 Add Sausage and beef and cook thoroughly, until all of the meat is brown.
19:25 Put the tomato sauces together in a crock pot or Dutch Oven, 24:40 add the cooked/browned meat mixture and all the seasonings from the ingredients list. 25:25 ( sugar, 2 tablespoons of parsley, basil, salt, Italian seasoning, fennel seeds). 28:18 Simmer the tomato and meat sauce mixture for a minimum of 3 hours on low heat, stirring occasionally.
29:00 In a separate bowl, mix the Ricotta cheese, egg and 2 tablespoons of parsley together.
How to assemble the Lasagna:
34:30 Use a glass pan, spray it with non stick cooking spray. First about 1 cup of the meat sauce mixture and spread evenly on the bottom of the pan, 35:18 next add 1 layer of the dry pre-cooked lasagna noodles on top of the meat sauce, 35:34 spread a thin layer of the Ricotta cheese mix on top of the dry noodles. 37:26 Finally, sprinkle a thin layer of Mozzarella cheese and parmesan cheese on top of the Ricotta cheese layer. 39:40 Repeat this process until the pan is filled to the top with layers of meat, pasta, and cheese. 41:00 Finish with the mozzarella and parmesan cheese layer on top.
Cooking the Lasagna:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190.5 degrees C). 41:10 Cover the Lasagna with foil, cook for 25 minutes, and then remove the foil and cook the lasagna for an additional 25 minutes without it. let lasagna sit and cool for 20 minutes and then enjoy!
