The train that never stops at a station: - How do you get on and off a non-stop high speed train?!
A 'non-stop train' innovation from the Chinese - How to get on and off a bullet train without it stopping. A MOST INTERESTING CONCEPT !
No time is wasted The bullet train is moving all the time. If there are 30 stations between Beijing and Guangzhou, just stopping and accelerating away again, at each station, wastes both energy and time.
A mere 5 min stop per station (elderly passengers cannot be hurried) will result in atotal loss of 5 min x 30 stations which equates to 2.5 hours of train journey time!
The Chinese have come up with a 'non-stopping' train concept. When the train arrives at a station, it will not stop at all, merely slow down, then accelerate back to cruising speed.
The passengers awaiting the train at a station embark onto to a 'connector cabin'. When the train arrives, it doe not stop. It slows down and picks up the 'connector cabin' which connects with the roofof the train as it passes the station.
While the train is still travelling away from the station, the passengers will board the train, by descending, from the 'connector cabin' now mounted on the train's roof. After fully unloading all of its passengers, the 'connector cabin' will move to the back of the train where the outgoing passengers, who wish to alight, at the next station, will ascend to the 'connector cabin' at the rear of the train.
When the train arrives at the next station, it will simply drop the rear 'connector cabin.
The alighting passengers then disembark at the station where the train hasn't even had to stop.
At the same time, the train has picked another 'connector cabin' full of passengers in the front. This means that the train will always drop one 'connector cabin' at the rear and pick up a new 'connector cabin' in the front, on the train's roof, at each station.
