פקחתי את עיני, היה אז חודש שבט
I opened wide my eyes, it was then month Shvat
ראיתי מעלי ציפור קטנה אחת
Above me I saw one little bird
ותכלת השמיים וענן יחיד
And the pale blue of the skies with a single cloud
וראיתי
And I saw
את ההר הירוק תמיד.

ההר הירוק כל ימות השנה,
The mountain that's green every day of the year
אני עוד חולם ושואל
I still dream and wish
לנשום רוחותיך כבראשונה,
To breath your wind as I did at first
לשכב בצילך כרמל.
To lie in you shade Carmel

במשחקי ילדות קלי השכרון
In the childhood games, easily enjoyed
רדפתי פרפרים, החלקתי במדרון
I chased butterflies, sliped down the mountain side
ועת חיפשתי לי מסתור ללב תמים
And when I sought a hideout for an innocent heart
אז ברחתי -
I then ran

בשנות הנעורים, בשנות האהבה
In the years of youth, in the the years of love
טיפסנו בשביליו, ידי בתוך ידה
We climbed up its paths, my hand in hers
השקפנו למרחק, לעבר העתיד
We watched out to the distance, towards the future
וחלמנו -
And dreamt

הלכנו לצבא, גדולים ונבוכים,
We went to the army, strong and embarrassed

הורינו - שערם הלבין מרוב ימים.
Our parents- their hair grew white of passing days

But young we'll be each morning when we look upon
