To celebrate the successes of President Park Chung-Hee's 'Saemaul Movement', Written by Park Chung-Hee himself and composed by his daughter Park Geunryeong, 'Song of Saemaul' was used as a symbol of the improvement of South Korean rural areas. Due to it's propaganda-like nature, all schools, town halls, workplaces, and factories would play this song on a set time on a daily basis. While the song now is underused, many still remember the song which is carried down the generations.
