Start a warm farm easily and cheaply, on the ground.
The worms are Eisenia fetida, red or tiger worms.
1 See my existing worm farm with the many red worms near its surface, where they live and feed.
2 I explain the feeding, what to give and how often
3 How they cope with temperature extremes, just by going down! This is much easier than an above ground wormery
4 You can start a new one with cardboard on weeds then a little immature compost, next the worms on top, then food on them
5 Plastic over is to mitigate weather extremes, and protect from birds
6 Any mild winter weather is a time you can start, or wait for early spring as it warms up. Either buy red / tiger worms (same thing!) or raid a compost heap or manure heap.
