Testing is a critical part of understanding how to control the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
Serological studies help us track how the virus spreads, its impact on different people and how we develop immunity. In Malawi, researchers are studying test samples to understand if exposure to the virus generates an immune response that's enough to prevent reinfection in the future.
"This work is of particular importance in low- and middle-income settings, like Malawi, where it has been hard to enforce some of the preventative measures," explains Dr Marah Chibwana.
To find solutions to Covid-19 that work for the world, it's essential that large-scale, quality global studies receive the funding they need.
