Burning fossil fuels to generate electricity, warm buildings, run vehicles and power industry is the biggest source of the climate-warming gases that cause climate change. To curb further destructive changes in the climate, we must switch to clean sources of electricity like wind and solar and electrify buildings, vehicles and industry. Despite periodic setbacks, we are making good progress on this transition and many of the problems that have arisen are being solved with a suite of really good ideas. Sure, we'd like to see this all go faster, but I'm optimistic that we are on the right track as long as we keep forging ahead and don't let ourselves get distracted or give up.
