TECNALIA is the technological partner of the company LANA S.COOP. in its search for a strategy to provide higher added value to the #Wood by-products generated in its manufacturing process of three-layer formwork boards for the #ConstructionSector.


Currently, LANA has a system that allows the manufacture of pellets from these by-products, but there are alternatives with higher added value.

The work carried out in the project demonstrates that by performing various physico-mechanical operations, it is possible to obtain new wood flour with competitive characteristics to the virgin wood flour used for the manufacture of WPC products. In fact, wood fractions smaller than 1 mm can be used to manufacture WPC profiles by extrusion.

The process has been validated by the successful manufacturing of an outdoor #UrbanFurniture element (recycling island). This pilot project reinforces its commitment to the circular economy and the forest-based bioeconomy.
