Franco Baresi, born 8 May 1960 in Travagliato (Italy). 20-year career with AC Milan (1977-1997), 470 Serie A games, captaining the club for 15 seasons. In 1997 the club retired Baresi's shirt number 6 and in 1999 he was voted AC Milan's Player of the Century.
Titles with AC Milan: 6 Serie A, 4 Supercoppa Italiana, 3 UEFA Champions League, 2 UEFA Supercup and 2 Intercontinental Cups.
With the Italy national team, he was a member of the Italian squad that won the 1982 FIFA World Cup. Captain in 1990 (3rd place) and 1994 (2nd place),
he also took part to 1980 and 1988 European Championships, plus 1984 Summer Olympics.
He is considered one of the greatest defenders (maybe the greatest sweeper alongside Franz Beckenbauer) of all-time.
