East Indian Prawn Curry With Vegetables | Prawn Curry With Rice Gruel
In this video I'll share my family favourite Prawn Curry Recipe. A fragrant Prawn Curry made with fresh spices and vegetables. This traditional Prawn Curry is with rice gruel and vegetables. It is a curry made with shell fish like prawns, shrimps, clams, crabs, squids, etc. and lots of vegetables. This Prawn Kanji Curry has no oil and I used ground coconut instead of coconut milk. This one of the healthy curry dishes and perfect for the summers. Traditionally served over steamed rice, this is a must try recipe.

Ingredients list
Prawns - 15 to 20 (use other shell fish like squids, crabs and clams. I used few prawns)
Vegetables - 1/2 kg red/white pumpkin, 2 drumsticks, brinjal, lady fingers (I used only red pumpkin and drumsticks)
Ground Masala Paste
- 1/2 cup freshly grated coconut (you can skip and use coconut milk)
- small bunch of coriander leaves
- 6 cloves garlic
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 6 green chillies, or as per taste
For the Kanji Prawn Curry
- 3 cups rice kanji (water strained after boiling rice)
- Masala paste (as above)
- 1 onion cut into cubes or small white onions (kandris)
- 2 green chillies, slit
- 2 tablespoons vinegar (I used white vinegar)
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper powder (or you can grind peppercorns with the masala paste)
- Salt to taste
