We don’t know when the next natural disaster, mass shooting or pandemic will occur. But twice a year, students at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine are being trained in a two-week elective course on how to manage these types of events when they inevitably happen.
Facilitated by Northwestern Medicine’s Disaster Management and Community Emergency Preparedness Initiative (DMCEPI), this elective, Intro to Disaster Preparedness, Response, and Management, features speakers from within Northwestern University and Northwestern Medicine as well as external organizations, such as the Chicago Police and Fire Departments, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the American Red Cross. ____
