With improved screening and increased awareness, the prevalence of autism diagnoses in children has increased, especially in children of color. Helen Tager-Flusberg, director of the BU Center for Autism research Excellence, Dr. Chris McDougle, director of MGH Lurie Center for Autism, and Cynthia Laine, the founder of Black Autism Coalition and mother of two children with autism, joined Crystal Haynes to discuss autism awareness, the road to a diagnosis and barriers to treatment.
