Medical tourism refers to people traveling abroad to obtain medical treatment.
In the past, this usually referred to those who traveled from less-developed countries to major medical centers in highly developed countries for treatment unavailable at home but more recently the term has been used to describe people traveling to other countries where the medical procedure is less expensive.
Dr. Bruce Hermann, a board-certified plastic surgeon joined LiveNOW's Andrew Craft to speak about why medical tourism is so popular and the risks associated with it.
