Nethrodaya's 22nd Anniversary Celebration was a milestone event that marked two decades of tireless efforts to empower the Differently-abled community. The occasion was graced by the presence of Hon'ble Member of Parliament, Tmt. Kanimozhi, who inaugurated the ' Medicine for the Blind' scheme' . This pioneering initiative provides free medicines to visually impaired patients at their doorsteps, a testament to Nethrodaya's unwavering commitment to empowering individuals with disabilities.
Empowerment through Self-Employment -
In addition to the 'Medicine for the Blind' scheme, Nethrodaya also initiated the self-employment scheme, offering seed capital to help visually impaired individuals start small-scale businesses. This initiative has already begun to bear fruit, with several visually impaired families receiving the necessary support to break free from the cycle of begging.
The event was made even more special by the presence of renowned playback singers Rita Thyagarajan and MLR Karthikeyan , who enthralled the audience with a musical fest. Dinesh, Director of Kovai Pazhamudir Nilayam , also joined in to make the event a memorable one. Honouring Outstanding Achievers -
Nethrodaya took the opportunity to honour outstanding visually impaired achievers, including:

- Mr. Jairam, AGM RBI, who received the Role Model Award
- Mr. Kumaravel and Mrs. Suganya, who received the Best Couple Award
- Mr. Padmanabhan, who received the Social Worker award
