Steam on the Southern Region had sadly ended on Sunday 9th July 1967 and a new dawn of railway life was beginning.
This first chapter of 'Rambling Railwayman's Recollections' covers Geoff’s secondman experiences at Woking MT (Mixed Traction) Depot from the following day Monday 10th July until he passed his Driver’s Rules & Regulations Exam and Electrical Multiple Units Course two years later (as in those days, the minimum age to become a driver was 23-years of age).
