Highlights from the Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony for The Schermerhorn & The Actors Fund Arts Center, a partnership between The Actors Fund and Common Ground. The building offers affordable housing in Downtown Brooklyn for people in entertainment as well as the formerly homeless and those living with HIV/AIDS, as well as a state-the-art performance space.
The event featured remarks by representatives from Common Ground, The Actors Fund, and the Center for Urban Community Services, as well as Abby Hamlin and government officials including Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, HUD's Adolfo Carrión, and City of New York Department of Cultural Affairs Commissioner Kate Levin.
The ceremony also featured performances by Schermerhorn residents Brandee Younger, Sheri Sanders, and Mark Frawley, as well as The Schermerhorn's resident arts organization, the Brooklyn Ballet.
