R.E.M. was an American rock band, which formed in 1980 in Athens, Georgia. The band famous line-up consists of Bill Berry (drums, percussion, backing vocals, occasional bass guitar and keyboards), Peter Buck (lead guitar, mandolin, banjo, occasional bass guitar and keyboards), Mike Mills (bass guitar, keyboards, backing vocals, occasional co-lead vocals and guitar) and Michael Stipe (lead vocals).
The One I Love is the seventh track from their fifth album, Document, released in August 1987. It was also released as the record's lead single in August 1987.
