Presenter: Midori Samson, musician & activist
Host: Satoko Hayami, Outreach Program Coordinator
Title: Operationalizing Social Work Principles in Music
This presentation will introduce Midor's research exploring the deliberate integration of social work principles into music pedagogy and performance. She argues that the intentional synergy of these two disciplines can contribute to a more anti-racist, anti-oppressive, and socially just classical music landscape. She discusses two frameworks from the discipline of social work and shows applied examples of how they can be operationalized by musicians.
