The third lesson of chapter 4, Child Ventilation. The first step is to ensure the bag-mask is the correct size. How to determine whether the mask is sized correctly is covered in the lesson. The proper use of the bag-mask is discussed.
"Firstly, make sure that the bag-mask is the correct size. The bag-mask should cover the whole mouth and nose but not the eyes and chin.
In the absence of a spine injury, open the airway using the head-tilt-chin-lift maneuver.
To ensure tight seal, use the E-C clamp—that is the letters E and C formed by the fingers and thumb over the mask.
Then squeeze the bag to deliver breaths. Each breath should last one second and cause the chest to rise."
