The United Nations has expressed serious concerns over the ongoing conflict in Afghanistan, which caused more than 5,000 civilian casualties in the first half of 2021. Nearly 2,400 Afghan civilians were killed or injured in May to June period alone as international troops continued drawdown and Taliban launched major offensives.
