How to create a patina rustic look on furniture. See how I used this patina painting technique to get this rustic patina look on this painted rocking chair. I sanded the rocking chair and then primed it with oil based primer to prevent leaking. I used the color sparkler to get my rustic patina looked. I used a 1.5" oval brush for my patina blending. I blending Country Chic Whoop-de-do with Sparklers. I then used the wash technique using a water based paint which helped give this piece a rustic patina look. This brings my bright colors down. I used a sea sponge which gave it some texture. I then added Bees Knees color to give it an even more rustic furniture look.
