((it is cannon that steve is a bit of the town traitor in some peoples eyes but in my head cannon he acts that way because he is scared he acts tuff and treats his daughter in a way that will make her strong against what nightvale has to offer. in the same way it is also how he was raised by his own father so he has little real guidance on how he himself is to raise the little girl.))
