(18 Dec 2018) A Russian cargo ship that ran aground off the coast of southwest England following bad weather on Tuesday has been refloated.
Mark Thomas, senior coastal operations manager for the UK Coastguard, said the crew tried to get the vessel clear of the shore but were hampered by the extreme weather conditions.
The 180-metre (590 foot) vessel carried no cargo and there were no reports of any pollution from the grounding.
Tugs were attached to the Kuzma Minin, which had 18 crew members on board, to refloat it off the coast of Falmouth, Cornwall, as the tide rose later in the day.
The vessel was taken to Falmouth Bay for inspection.
