Watch as the #verycoolguys of construction show you how to install chair rail, in a proper molding installation.

Today we show you, step by step, how to install chair rail molding.

First, take your measurements and mark them on the wall, using the pre-existing chair rail molding as a guide.

Then, mark a line on your wall using a chalk line. It is important to remember to use dust away chalk or else you will have an indelible mark on your walls.

Once you have your lines in place, you are ready to start measuring you chair rail molding for cuts.

We used a 45 degree angle cut for our corners, but your angles may vary.

Now that you have the outside corners cut, you will need to glue the ends of the corners of the molding for a tight seal.

Also make sure to put a thin layer of adhesive on the back of your molding.

The chemical bond from the adhesive and glue will create a tight bond on the chair rail molding.

Put your chair rail molding in place, aligning the corners, and now pin it in place with either brad nails or finish nails.

Repeat this process for all outside corners during your molding installation.

When installing molding on and inside corner make sure it is cut to the right size.

Leave enough room for a bend at the middle when sliding the chair rail molding in place, as this will create a tight seal and seamless corners.
