what to do if you Lost your BRP (Biometric Residence Permit), Lost your BRP in three UK? Lost your BRP outside the Uk? Found your BRP after reporting stolen/lost?
If you’ve lost your BRP in the UK, Here are the steps you should follow to report and replace it:-
1. Report the Loss or Theft:—-
📌Online Reporting: Report the loss or theft of your BRP as soon as possible. You can do this online via the GOV.UK website.
📌Police Report: You should also report the loss or theft to the local police and obtain a crime reference number if it was stolen.
2. Apply for a replacement BRP:-
📌Application form:
Complete the online application form for a replacement BRP. You can find the form on the GOV.UK website.
📌 Required Documents:-
• Prepare the required documents, which typically include:
Passport or travel documents
Police report (if applicable)
Crime references number (if applicable)
Previous BRP details (if applicable)
• Fee
Pay the fee for the replacement BRP. As of now, the fee is £56 for standard processing. There may be additional fees for faster processing.
3. Biometric Appointment:-
📌 Uk visa and citizenship application services (UKVCAS)
After submitting your applications, you will be required to book and attend a biometric appointment at a UKVCAS service point. You will need to provide your fingerprints, photographs and signature.
4. Processing Time:-
📌 The standard processing time for a replacement BRP is usually up to 8weeks. You can check current processing time on the website.
5. Receiving your new BRP:-
📌 Once your application is approved, your new BRP will be sent to you by post. Ensure your address details are correct in the application you avoid delivery issues.
Fun fact:-
You will not be needing a BRP from 1st january 2025 as the UKVI is currently moving everything online and you will be able to prove your immigration status online, without a BRP.
