If you want to prevent swarm cells and you want to know how to split your beehive, this video will show you how to make a vertical demaree split and keep all the bees under one roof.
In this video I show you how to stop my bees swarming and how to stop my colony from swarming. By using a demaree split (vertical split) it helps to give the queen space in the brood box to lay and means it will delay swarm preparations. Its a highly effective swarm management technique and great for maximising your honey crop.
Splitting beehives by making vertical splits means you dont need to get the other half of the colony to make a queen. It keeps all the bees under one roof and can boost honey production.
