Every 10,000 miles or so, you should change the two engine air filters in your Mercedes-Benz C320. The air filters protect the air intake system, valves, pistons, cylinder walls, and engine oil from dust and debris that can be sucked in under normal operation. Replacement is a snap and should take only take 30 minutes or so.

Begin by opening the hood and having a look at the engine. There are two air filters on the C320, one on each side of the engine that feed air from the two air inlet ducts on each side.

You will need to remove the two air inlet ducts as well as the front engine cover to get access to the air filter housing on top of the engine.

Remove each duct by compressing them towards the engine and slipping them off the air inlet.

With the ducts off remove the front engine cover. It pulls up and away from the engine. The cover is held on by five clips and will easily come off with hand pressure.

Next you will need to remove the main engine cover that also houses the air filters. It is held on by four pressure clips. You can see the two at the front of the engine, to remove the housing lift it at the front of the engine and once the front clips release the rears (which you can not see) will release as well.

Place the housing on a flat surface with the logo side facing down. The air boxes are held on by four T25 screws on each side. To remove the air box loosen the four screws on each side. While the screws will fully loosen they will stay attached to the airbox.

Flip the airbox over and remove the filter. The filters will only fit into the box in one direction so take note which way they came out. Clean any dirt or debris in the box and insert your new filters.

Installation is the reverse of removal.
