Hi everyone! I'm back today with a quick "how to" video. In this video, I show how to remove that sticky rubber coating from certain old electronics or gadgets.
When I was doing the 30 day tidying challenge, I noticed that this old IBM DVD drive, which used to have a soft touch matte coating, was now covered in a sticky surface. The coating had started breaking down and it was now incredibly gummy to the touch. I googled how to remove the stickiness and this was the easiest solution that I found -- it didn't involve me having to buy anything, which was definitely a plus!
All you'll need is rubbing alcohol (I had 70% and it worked great) and a cloth. Pour a little rubbing alcohol onto a dry cloth and gently wipe the surface of your product until the sticky surface dissolves. You may have to do this a few times for all the gumminess to come off.
Thank you for watching! I hope this helps at least one of you! If you have any requests for "how to" videos, please leave them in the comment section. :) x
