The presence of mold in a compost system or food scraps headed for a worm bin is a signal that the material is already starting to break down. But, don't be fooled and think that there's only mold in there! Bacteria are everywhere and they are the culprits that will shoot up your worm bin temperatures if you feed a lot of food, especially in the warmer months.
Watch the results as I feed Gilligan, my large outdoor turtle shaped worm bin, a healthy amount of rotten and moldy food. This isn't the first time I've given Gilligan moldy food (see video links below), although this time the food was both raw and not previously frozen.

Gilligan also has his own playlist where you can follow this turtle worm bin's adventures from the beginning. Thanks so much for watching, commenting and subscribing!
