In collaboration with Google News Initiative and Tech Valley, the Sheraz Mehmood Qureshi Foundation organized a groundbreaking "Digital Journalism Workshop" in Mansehra, aimed at empowering journalists and media students with essential digital skills.
The workshop brought together over 85 participants, including journalists from print, electronic, and online media, as well as students from the Mass Communication Department of Hazara University. Certified by Google, Master Trainer Muhammad Kamran conducted a hands-on training session, covering:
Combating misinformation
Verification tools
Digital reporting skills
Online research techniques
Using Google Trends effectively
Prominent personalities graced the event, including senior journalist and former Federal Minister for Information Mushahid Hussain Syed, who engaged with the audience on the global and local media landscape. Sher Afzal Gujar, CEO of Hazara Express News, highlighted the challenges and opportunities in Hazara's media landscape. Meanwhile, Umer Farooq, CEO of Tech Valley and Patron-in-Chief of the Sheraz Mehmood Qureshi Foundation, shed light on the initiative's goals and the future of digital journalism in Pakistan.
The session concluded with certificate distribution to the participants, marking the beginning of a transformative journey for Hazara’s journalists and media students.
