This session covers an important topic on "Scheduling Technique in Project Time Management." In this video we would cover the scheduling techniques in Project Time Management. The sixth process in this knowledge area is to develop a schedule. The primary output of this process is a schedule baseline along with the project schedule and a schedule data, project calendar and we also update the project management plan and other documents as part of this process. We use the scheduling techniques such as schedule network analysis, critical chain method, critical path method, resource optimization techniques, leads & lags, modeling techniques, schedule compression techniques and other scheduling tools as tools & techniques. We are creating the schedule so we need the schedule management plan and the activity list as primary input, along with that we also need the activity attributes, activity resource requirements, resource calendar. We also need the project scope statement, risk register, staff assignment, resource breakdown structure, activity duration estimates and the enterprise environmental factors and organizational process assets as inputs to this process. The most commonly used technique to create a project schedule is critical path method. This method is used to calculate the minimum duration of the project and determine the scheduling flexibility on the logical network paths within the scheduling model. This technique calculates the early start, early finish, late start, late finish dates of all activities without regard for any resource limitation, by performing a forward and backward pass analysis through the project schedule network. The definition might sound a bit complicated, however when we look into an example of this particular method, it would be all clear. At one side wherein a critical path method we do not consider the resource limitation. In critical chain method we consider the resource limitations. A critical chain method is a scheduling method that allows the project team to place buffer on any project schedule path to account for limited resource availability & project uncertainties.
