Talk to your physicians about your cancer history and your family, not just breast cancer, all types of cancers. There are lots of genes out there that link breast cancer to other cancers, and your physician can decide whether or not you qualify for genetic testing.
If you are found to have a positive mutation, we may follow you differently, depending on what mutation it is. Whether we follow you every six months, use special imaging like MRI, or possibly even use surgery to protect you from getting breast cancer in the future. So please, knowledge is power, talk to your doctor, and get the testing done. Take care.”
