Hezbollah head Naim Qassem acknowledged on Dec. 14 that the Lebanese armed group had lost its weapons supply route through Syria. The statement came after the toppling of Hezbollah’s ally Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s regime nearly a week ago by a sweeping rebel offensive. Syria reportedly provided a land route for Hezbollah’s ally, Iran, to send convoys of weapons to Lebanon. Qassem said that he hopes the Syrian people will choose cooperation with the new government and would not cooperate with neighbouring Israel.
