**UPDATE 5/28/14 ENGINE WAS MANUFACTURED FROM 1903-1929**
In this video I give a brief history of the Harley Davidon F-Head engine and show why this engine is called an F-Head type engine. This engine is also sometimes refered to as an Intake Over Exhaust engine and IOE for short.
Harley Davidson manufactured the F-head engine from 1903 to 1928, and was used in most of their motorcycles during this time period. The only exception are Harley Davidson manufactured a few specialty engines for racing, which were not F-Head engines, and it 1919 to 1923 Harley Davidson manufactured a motorcycle called the W Sport Twin, which used an opposed twin flat head engine. This engine was similar to the older BMW Boxer engine, and also the Briggs & Stratton flat head opposed twin I/C engine.
