Swakopmund is a popular coastal town in Namibia, which is surrounded by the sand dunes of the Namib desert and the ocean. The town was founded by the Germans as the main harbour for South West Africa, today known as Namibia. Swakopmund has tourist attractions like splendid historic buildings, town promenade, the beach, the aquarium and many more. The presence of the Germans is still very much evident in this town, through the many German street names, restaurants, cafes, bars, shops and other businesses that are reminiscent of their time there.
