China will join the international aid to the rebuilding of Afghanistan and support its peaceful process, which should be pushed forward inclusively, "led by Afghan people and owned by Afghan people," said Chinese President Xi Jinping in Tashkent, Uzbekistan on Friday.
The Chinese president made the remarks while meeting with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani in Tashkent on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit.
China will proactively participate in international aid for Afghanistan, and support the SCO to play its role in Afghan issues, Xi said.
The two sides should work together to enhance cooperation in areas of agriculture, energy, infrastructure and the exploration of human resources, Xi said, adding that cooperation in anti-terrorism and security should be enhanced.
This year marks the 15th anniversary of the founding of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
Calling China a trustworthy friend, President Ghani expressed his gratitude for China's support in the country's rebuilding process.
Afghanistan would like to join the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, and participate in the Belt and Road Initiatives proposed by China, he said.
