Oxford Real Farming Conference 2022 discussion with Jesse Frost; Ben Raskin.
As people delve deeper into how and where their food, fuel and building materials come from, so many are inspired to pursue a career that could help make the world a better place. If you are not from a farming or forestry background though, how do you find out about these careers? And, more importantly, once you have found that out, how do you get the necessary training opportunities or land to pursue them and make them a success?
Part-time farming, share farming, community supported agriculture are all great ways to gain a foothold in making a living from the land and begin to build up a career or equity. Renting land is also still a great and relatively affordable way in, though inherently more risky. Finding the right landlord may not be easy. None of it is easy though. This session will explore a range of options and help new entrants navigate the plethora of options out there.
