Caroline Jacobs, a member of Guyana’s Makushi tribe from Surama Village, is working to document and record the traditional knowledge of elders in four communities, with a focus on women, to ensure conservation of the environment. Through her work and with support from the Amazonia Indigenous Women’s Fellowship Program, Caroline is helping to ensure that future generations can continue to learn and benefit from the traditional knowledge that has helped their ancestors and nature thrive.

The Amazonia Indigenous Women’s Fellowship Program, an initiative of Our Future Forests–Amazonia Verde project, supports Indigenous women leaders and the key roles they play in local, national and regional conservation decision-making processes.
