How to best serve a Boatyard Double Gin? That's exactly the question we were answered via the amazing Killyhevlin Lakeside Hotel and Lodges in Enniskillen, Co. Fermanagh.
Since we are showing the best drinks from around Ireland, we should first ask: do you like Gin? If your answer is yes then you should check the hotel and bar out via their website and go there to try the boatyard gin which they do serve in the place. [ Ссылка ]
Drinks and cocktails in general are always related to the part where we have to say that right choices are needed because they would either make or break our moods and days. Going out with friends for the weekend or even enjoying a drink at home with your loved one is considered something that lots of people cherish because it does not happen every single day and it usually ends the day in a good way, which is exactly the same reason why we decided to head to the Lakeside Bar & Grill in Killyhevlin Hotel and meet Steve the barman who enjoyed giving us different recipes for some of the cocktails which he prepares and at the same time tell us about some drinks which are considered the best in the place, just like the boatyard gin.
Boatyard is a locally produced gin which the place loves to serve and celebrate since it is considered new in the picture. The boatyard double gin is one of those products produced by the Boatyard Distillery and it was also the first gin product to be produced by them. Boatyard double gin is a smooth, juniper-led dry gin, with notes of citrus crush and floral sweetness.
The reason behind the name boatyard double gin goes back to the way it is prepared and distilled; when the distillation runs off the column still, a unique juniper filtration process is introduced, the one which the Dutch gin spirit distillers call if "dubbel gebeide genever", this double contact method results in an even more pronounced juniper flavor. Eventually this collected spirit is infused and distilled with the carefully selected organic botanical which include "sweet gale" in them and which are grown in a farm in Fermanagh, making it all a Northern Ireland local brand.
At the Lakeside Bar & Grill in Killyhevlin Hotel and as Steve the barman recommended, it is best to serve the boatyard double gin with a slice of lemon to give it the best taste - so if you want to try this gin and you happen to be in Fermanagh or at least close then you could visit the Lakeside and try a sample.
Isn't it always a better idea to try the local products of the city or country you are staying at as some kind of fully experiencing the place? That is the tip we try to share and follow - of course when we hear that alcoholic drinks are good in this country. In addition to the boatyard double gin that is locally produced, there is another thing which you could also try and which also happens to be brewed in Fermanagh which is a beer called Inish Mac Saint ([ Ссылка ]), which is also served at the Lakeside Bar & Grill and which is a good choice to make - we could guarantee that.
During the journey of exploring some local alcoholic drinks as well as getting introduced to some cocktail recipes, we knew how cocktails are being prepared. The first cocktail drink we were introduced to was the Cosmopolitan cocktail which Steve showed us step by step how it should be correctly prepared and served ([ Ссылка ]). The second cocktail drink to come along was the Brandy Alexander cocktail ([ Ссылка ]). The third option and choice and which we loved because it is considered among the alcoholic drinks although it is not but could still deliver the same feeling and effect and that was called Cinderella mocktail ([ Ссылка ]). Finally, there was also another cocktails to know more about which was the Whiskey Snapper ([ Ссылка ]). These were the cocktails we got introduced to their recipes through Steve, the barman at Lakeside Bar & Grill.
On the other side, we also got the chance to enter different bars and pubs in Belfast where we also got the chance to taste different things. The first place was The Spaniard in Belfast where Michelle learned to make the dark and stormy cocktail - and drink it - which is mainly made with dark rum ([ Ссылка ]), and the second place was Muriel's which is located in Belfast's city centre and there we tried the Elderflower martini and we then followed it with the Espresso martini ([ Ссылка ]) - and we believe that we succeeded at making the right choices in these places because we loved what we were served at the end and would visit one more time to try some other choices as well.
