Hey guys. Shane here with the etrailer.com. Today we're going to be taking a look at the Lippert Components Road Armor Shock Absorption Equalizer Kit. They're going to be designed for dual or double axle trailers, tandem axle trailers, anywhere from 3,500 pounds up to 8,000-pound axles. It's going to come with two of them, one for each side and all the hardware to get them installed, including the bolts for your spring ends. Now let's talk about what this upgrade is going to do compared to the old one. If you notice our old one here, it's all cast.
Everything is metal, so what happens is these will create a lot of chucking in your trailer. For those of you that have pulled a trailer, you probably know what chucking is. For those of you who don't, what it is is say your front axle hits a pothole or you go over a speed bump. With this, when that axle raises, you see what it's doing to this side It's pushing down on this spring. That creates a lot of negative effect on your rear axle and vice versa.
When the back one goes up or down, it's going to create a negative effect on the front one. What it does is because all this is metal, it creates a lot of vibration that travels right up into the trailer. If you have clocks, anything like that and hanging on the wall, cabinet doors that don't lock closed, even drawers, it's going to create a lot of damage inside the trailer and it costs you a lot of money to repair later on. Upgrading to this is going to greatly reduce the chucking and how it does that, is it's going to have a rubber bushing up here, down here. Same thing on this side, so as one spring raises, it's going to push on that boot. This side is going to push down on this one.
It's going to absorb that shock so you don't get as much vibration up in the trailer. So again, those of you that have pulled a trailer, know what chucking is. Those that don't, when you get that chucking effect while you're driving, it feels like the trailer is pushing your vehicle and it kind of makes you white knuckle the steering wheel. It makes the whole ride uncomfortable, especially if you're going on a longer trip and pulling a trailer this size.Another great thing about this is the kit, if you notice the inaudible 00:02:35 fitting on the end of each of our bolts. That is a great feature because you're able to grease the inside of that bolt. There's actually a bushing inside; inside your spring, inside each of these.
And being able to grease that is going to make that bushing last a lot longer. The top of your spring probably has a plastic one. These are going to have copper ones inside of here, and rather than having metal-to-metal rub together or the metal-to-plastic rub together, that's eventually going to wear out that inside and you have to replace them. With being able to grease them, keep those moistened up, you don't have that metal-on-metal or metal-on-plastic rubbing together. It's going to make them last a lot longer.Let's compare this to some of the other types out there in this category. One of them is going to be E-Z Flex. And that one is also going to be designed for a tandem axle trailer. It's going to handle up to 8,000-pound axles. And the difference between that and this, is with the E-Z Flex, you have an arm that comes off your spring that comes over like this. The one that comes off this spring comes over like this. And there's one rubber boot right in the middle. Well, let's say your front axle is pushing on that boot, what is it doing Now it's pushing on this arm that's going to this spring. Does it work Yes, it's going to reduce the chucking and the vibration, but you only have one boot in between there. With this one, you have four; one on each side on top and one on the bottom on each side for the arm.Another one I like to compare it to is the Equa-Flex. Again, you're going to reduce the amount of chucking and vibration you get, but you're not going to get as much effect as you will out of this. Here's how the Equa-Flex works. It's pretty long and you actually have an arm that attaches to each spring roll at the end. They are separate, so you don't have one bar going back and forth. So they work offset or by themselves. But what happens is, they only have one boot at the top. So that arm is only going to be affected when the spring side goes up. What happens when it goes down You don't get anything. So again, with this, you got top and bottom. So whether that's goin
