This video explores how South Africa's past has been shaped by the diverse perspectives of its people and how these viewpoints have evolved over time. Historically dominated by British colonial narratives and later, Afrikaner nationalism, South Africa's historiography was largely influenced by those in power. However, the end of apartheid marked the beginning of a shift towards more inclusive and varied historical accounts, increasingly focusing on the experiences of Africans, Indians, and Coloured people (a term that is unique to south africa and should not be confused with a similar term in North America).
