Doctors and crossbench MPs are urging Prime Minister Scott Morrison to build cabin style quarantine facilities as a way to repatriate Australians who are trapped overseas.
Darwin’s Howard Springs facility is being held up as the best model because of its access to fresh air but Mr Morrison is also seriously looking at Victoria’s proposal to build a 3,000-bed facility north of Melbourne.
This comes as Northern Territory Chief Minister Michael Gunner confirmed the COVID cases in Howard Springs have dropped from 41 to 35 but are still not low enough to start returning or repatriating Australians.
