STORYLINE:
Bolivian President Evo Morales said on Saturday that Cuban President Fidel Castro had "recovered" from his recent operation which forced him to temporarily hand over power.
In a speech to politicians in Sucre, Bolivia, attended by Cuban Vice President Carlos Lage, Morales said the Cuban leader had recovered and wished him a speedy return to the presidency.
Morales was addressing the Bolivian Congress in a special session ahead of the start of the Bolivian Constitutional Assembly, and also thanked Cuba for its medical aid.
Lage said Castro did not have stomach cancer.
``His surgery was successful and he is recuperating well from the operation," he said.
Lage flew with Morales from La Paz to Sucre and was honoured with the keys of the city.
